There are a small number of automatic pistols that were or currently are produced in .44 Magnum and similar class (e.g., .44 AMP, .45 Winchester Magnum, .475 Wildey Magnum, .50Æ, etc.). Examples include:

The Wildey:


And should you find yourself in Edwardian England, well, the concept isn't new. The Mars automatic in .45 Mars Long hurled a 220-grain slug at 1,200 ft/s.

I had a DEagle in .50AE. Even after I had the barrel MagnaPorted, it was still a torque beast. It also had a nasty habit of throwing the casings right at my forehead. It was a fun Hollywood gun for my collection but I eventually moved on.

My problem with this class of guns is that I don't have 4XL hands to hang onto the monster grips made necessary by such monster cartridges. The concept is cool, I would like the technology to be refined just a little more
