I honestly don't know it is very strange my guess is some kind of kostic solvent or something like that. It was like that when I got it

I have a Smith and Wesson model 1905 M&P 4th change in 38 special. Cylinder to frame lock up is good and tight and the cylinder timing is perfect. has Original grips and still has its lanyard loop! has a couple of holes in the bluing but no rust. Measures 6inches from tip of barrel to the cone. Based on serial number Im guessing it was made in the 1930s don't have an aproximate date. very nice piece of history. in no real hurry to sell or trade would like to see whats out there. Here is the Savage model 11 22-250 with BSA 8X24X44 scope. Strange finish but it is what it is. This one I would not trade straight up for the Smith but I'm sure we could work something out if it is something you are interested in.
