Lots to do up there on Kodiak Island for 7 days. Will arrive on the 2nd, no rest for the wicked.
My son is retiring after 20+ years with the Coast Guard, the ceremony is the 3rd of May. I will present him the Cartridge display at that time.

Think Pirates of the Caribbean and Captain Jack Sparrow saying "drinks all around."

The 4th will be a range day to expend a good bit of ammunition, I'll be taking my model 13 S&W .357 that he likes so much.

The 5th, cinco de mayo (my Bday) will be spent on a charter boat searching for halibut and rock fish.

The rest of the time will be spent relaxing, seeing old friends and meeting some of his shipmates.

This will be a well deserved break/vacation.
We've been caring for our 2 grandkids for almost 2 months and then loosing Ayla. Still not over that.

Remember folks, Never a trip always an adventure!:(

If I went back up there again I probably wouldn't come back.
Yeah right, this was the last time I told the wife we're moving there…

Wheels down in Kodiak Alaska at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon.
Spent the day ferrying people from the airport, good to see some friends I haven't seen in years. Retirement ceremony tomorrow and fishing Friday & Sunday then fly out Monday. bigsmile.gif

So far a great getaway, the boy is retired, he is blown away with the cartridge display, blood in the boat, tour of Kodiak Island (including a stop at the Kodiak Military History museum), visiting with good friends and family. Time is too short for visits to exotic places.

Didn't see any bears, it was a safe trip thank goodness.
We landed at 4:30, drove to Fife, traffic slowed to a crawl so stopped to eat and a quick stop at Sportco then arrived home around 6:30.

The Chief said he was very moved by all the well wishes and donations for the cartridge display. Salute!
