Found this video recently and if its true (which I don't doubt) concerning wound channels by handgun calibers. If the velocity of the bullet has to reach 2200 ft/sec in order to create permanent wound channel then how effective are those bullets with exterior fluted designs? From what I've seen from videos of fluted bullets in ballistic gel, the wound channel is created because of twisting of the projectile but is it permanent? Basically, I'm asking if its tearing through flesh or just displacing it. I guess to test it will be to shoot an animal and see how much meat is destroyed.

It's likely a combination of both tearing and displacement. Lol
