I respectfully disagree with your thinking. Everyones situation is different. My parents owned a good sized sporting goods store for roughly 35 years, and long before I was born (I'm 25). Firearms have always been an aspect of my life. I grew up respecting firearms (by no means am I saying you do not), and with the idea that ammo is kept somewhat separate from firearms, both of which should be locked up. That being said, I have too much ammo any too many full mags to have it all locked up.
I have a 3 year old daughter who knows well enough to never enter my office AT ALL. Plus with nearly everthing under lock and key, I feel pretty comfortable that she would never be able to get into the safe or even manupulate loading a gun. The only thing left to worry about is what I keep handy to help me sleep. Typically my 870 (buck in the tube, empty chamber), but sometimes I throw my carry gun (which IS chambered with HP's, but in a level 3 retention holster)in the nightstand ONLY WHILE I AM NEXT TO IT. If I get out of bed, the gun goes back in the safe or on my person.
We also have a very light sleeper in the house who takes a personal responsability of protecting my daughter from even the quietest bumps in the night. She may not be a killer but hopefully she gives me the advantage of a warning!
I know I wouldn't want to break into my house
Let's keep it respectful guys, no need to attack people or their ideas. These are all just opinions, the purpose of this site (IMO) is having a SAFE place to express ideas and opinions WITHOUT being put down or disrespected. Basic 1st ammendment stuff here, but that doesn't mean we need to use abrasive comments.
Thanks!
