Mossburg 500 at my bedside. Magazine loaded, chamber empty, safety off. I used to sleep with my M&P 40 in holster loaded but found myself waking up to noises (slightest noise wakes me up) and my gun is in my hand (still holstered) before I was really awake. I have kids and couldn't forgive myself if I shot them just because I wasn't awake yet. I need a couple of seconds to make sure that I'm awake!!!

I use 2 motion detecting signal devices. that have 2 separate tones,, so i know where the motion location is ,,and sometimes use 4 seismic detectors, with 4 different signal codes, for location. next 2 the bed i either have the m-4 or the 1911.( hidden, but easily accessable.)
if anything is moving out there ,i know its there before it gets to the house.. once in awhile it ends up being a critter. but i dont mind the occasional false alarm...its not that i'm paranoid,or looking for a confrontation, its just sometimes of interest to know what or who is moving on the property, and either just observe or choose not to.,it makes it easier for me to sleep.as i have a pretty rough time sleeping normally.( I had a home invasion about 15 years ago that pretty much changed the way i think about things, but thats another story all together.)

    Good plan!

I happen to sleep very well armed. Also, I have a Red Nose Pitbull that shares(hogs, actually) my bed.

Nobody will ever see my HD setup, or any of my SD setups for that matter. For those that want an example, they can attempt a late-night break-in. At that point demonstrations are free.

Brand new member. Been reading the forums for a couple of months and decided to join and post just for this thread. This is right up my alley. I'm glad to see I'm not the only "nutbar" (as my friends and family will address it) out there.

Glock 19 with mounted light in my nightstand drawer. SP101 in the wife's. Mossberg 500 with breacher barrel and mounted light under the bed. AK stashed in the opposite end of the house.

I'm glad some people know their limits and understand they may need to wake up a little more before handling a loaded firearm. Nothing wrong with that.

I personally don't have that problem as I'm awake and fully alert the moment I hear something out of the ordinary at night. I have jumped up and cleared my house numerous times in the middle of the night, including once when my drunken roommate came home making alot of noise (he normally was really quiet) and turned around from guzzling milk at my refrigerator to see me pointing the G19 at his noggin momentarily as I cut the pie around the corner. Suprised both of us to say the least. TRIGGER CONTROL.

This is an awesome forum, I'm glad my buddy turned me on to it. I look forward to conversing with you all on here.

I also would like to point out that I died laughing when you guys put that pic up. I had seen it several times on the interweb and always wondered what the **** that guy was thinking. The mullet and the arsenal are bad enough, but what really sticks it for me is the "Guitar Hero" guitar next to the real one. I'm pretty sure that dude's ready for anything. Especially if the home invader wants to jam out on some Xbox with him.

That is so wrong on so many levels.

Notice the resemblance to the GEICO caveman?

Nice single bed. He must still be living with Mommy.

Mom's basement is completely secure. No home invaders or attractive women will enter.

At least his finger is indexed off the trigger. With a complete lapse of judgement when it comes to cameras, at least he wont have accidents with his gun.
