I shoot both rifles (even bolt actions) and handguns left handed.

In my daily life I am mostly right handed, but when handling guns, they often seem to feel better in my left hand ( I am also Left eye dominant). I feel very comfortable shooting revolvers from either hand, but shotguns & rifles feel more sturdy on the left side.

I think what it all comes down to is the shooters comfort with the particular weapon. As a shooting enthusiast, I try to be competent with both hands in the end....

You should be able to shoot (and hit) with either hand or shoulder. But if left handed there is no reason these days to force oneself into shooting right handed. Just choose the right weapon. i.e. Glocks work better the 1911s for leftys, AKs work better than AR for leftys, etc (at least IMO)
