Thread: youth's first rifle...?

New to shooting...singlefather and 12 y/o son. Some friends are mentoring us. Booked for hunter safety and the boy got his first shotgun for XMAS from same group of friends. Needs first rifle.

Open to suggestion on caliber...operating on a tight budget but expecting taxes back any day.

Located in se pdx...car is dead...willpay your gas to drop off firearm.

BTW...we are not concerned with a scratch here or a ding there...must be a good shooter...that is all. Got a PM with confirmation on .243 caliber...just can't afford to go buy a new one.
