Thread: 870 Metal Butt Plate

I'm looking for a steel butt plate to replace the recoil pad on my 870 with a wood stock. Has anybody seen these or know where to get them? Thanks.

Your efforts are in vain. Remington did use plastic butt plates on their older shotguns but the length of the wood stock was longer to make up for the thinness of the butt plate, so the dimensions do not match. You can sand down the edges of a plastic butt plate to fit the shorter stock. Numrich has the plastic plates.

I dont know about you. But I dont want to go out and shoot it with a metal buttplate for 400 to 500 shots of practice. Thats just to damaging.
