    Default H & R 20 gauge Break-action

I was rummaging through my grandfathers house, and happened upon this 20G single-shot pardner, break action.

I just happen to have some ammo for it, so I took it outside, popped one in, pulled the hammer back, then my grandma came outside screaming, telling me she doesn't like guns, and to wait till I leave to shoot it.

So I went to go unload (the live round) and the chamber is not breaking open. So how do I get this round out without shooting it?

Is the hammer still back (full cock)? If so, point the gun in a safe direction and carefully and slowly lower it to the down position by holding the hammer and pulling the trigger and then try to open it. If that doesn't work try to close the gun more, maybe its not fully closed.

Say aware of your muzzle during this process.
Good luck and let us know what you figured out.
