Thread: Carrington Event (EMP)

Something worth looking at since it's posted in a more conventional newspaper. I've read about the Carriington Event before. The implications 'today' would be pretty amazing even at a half scale event.

Yes, considering that the 1859 event caused telegraph machines to spontaneously catch fire...imagine what that would do to nearly every printed circuit in existence.

Most of the reading Ihave done seems to indicate we're headin ginto a solar minimum, not an "awakening". I'm more concerned about Maunder Minimum than Carrington Event. Carrington Even might cause disruption for a short period of time. A Maunder Minimum will probably cause long term shifts in agriculture and poopulation. Back in the 1600s, people didn't have much capacility of mass migration. Today, it's trivially easy.
