There is Four Corners Rod and Gun Club just East of Salem. It is a members oly club but does accept new members. They have out to 200 yards and very nice facilities.

As to public areas near Salem all depends on who you know and how far you consider close. Salem is surrounded by private land for just about 20 miles in every direction. There are some private timber areas open to shooting. But not close to Salem.

Their are a few places east of scio and a ...couple on the back half of silverton. pm me and I wil give explicit directions.

I ran into the same problem in Salem a few years ago; couldn't believe the lack of shooting space nearby despite all the greenery. Everything is privately owned.

I joined the Albany Rifle and Pistol Club (ARPC). It's about 30 miles from Salem.

ARPC just set up popper targets at 235 and 250 yards on the main range.
