Update here: Snohomish County to request land for gun range

The ball is now in DNR's court - they have to decide whether to transfer the land to Snohomish County. Those with an interest may wish to lobby the DNR Board - meeting info, agendas and contact info available at that link.

"Antis" are already coming out - see Herald commentary and letters. (There's also been a pro-range commentary and some letters in support.)

Nothing is happening soon, other than the DNR transfer decision. As the article notes, there is no identified funding, and there would likely be SEPA review. Still, nice to see a County Council unanimously support something like this.
