    They talk the talk but when asked for references they would not give any. How many smith do not put their name on their website anyway? I still have a botched pistol in my safe from years ago. I can not recommend their work.

    George did a great job on my sons Remmington 700 sps, he did the trigger and bedded the action. Trigger went from a rough 7 1/2 lbs to a nice crisp 4 lbs. Groups were 2" at a 100 yards and after my son is putting 4 shots and covering them with a quarter.

    We are very happy with his work, and are going back.

    He picks up work from gun shops, doesn't respond well to e-mails about his work and generally has an attitude problem. I asked him if he would put an inexpensive safety on my rifle and his reply was "If you want inexpensive work, go find an inexpensive gunsmith"----he has a problem with that word I guess. Since then he won't respond to my e-mails.

    My experiences there have been less than stellar. I'm not questioning his competency or quality but there seems to be things he does and does not want to do.

    I took a rifle in to have the barrel cut/crowned and to have the stock refinished. It was a situation where I wasn't in any hurry to have to work done so I said "take your time with it". Two months later I get a call saying that he really doesn't have time to do this and he's going to be moving out of state. Well, fine I guess and I went and picked up the rifle. A week later I hear that he isn't leaving after all but does not seem interested one bit in taking on the work I wanted done to my rifle. I never asked him how much it was going to cost, I had just said do the work so I don't think I fit into the "inexpensive" crowd lol.

    My general take on the dealings I had with him was that he has kind of an elitist attitude. On his website he touts all kinds of things they do and the work I needed done surely fit into what he advertises. From what I know, it's only him and his ex wife who work there but the way the website describes it you'd think they have a whole staff. It's unfortunate because there aren't a lot of options around this area.

    I ended up taking the rifle down to JES Rifle Reboring and he cut/crowned the barrel, shortened the mag tube, and re-drilled the front sight for $75. He did an outstanding job and I ended up doing the wood refinishing myself.

    Ahhh.. Appears " Squatto" goes by different "screen names" on different Gun Forums, no surprise there Most net whiners do. You did not email me nor call;
    You did a "shout out" on a thread, I replied. So, here is exactly "what" transpired.

    Duskykiller; you never had a "botched" pistol from us. You seem to ask about us on forums, yet you live here in Eugene ? All the shops around send us work and have for over two decades. Regardless of what "screen names" ( those who hide who they are and their "claims" , we will always stay in business. We were established way before the Internet, back when people did business face to face, person to person. Word of mouth and reputation kept you in business. We always have a six to ten week backlog, 3 generations of customer's here now and else where.

    A gentleman who owns several large auto dealerships asked me once if I ever have "fired a customer", I replied a few here and there. He said "Smart Man". I tell my employee's it's OK to do that, but you bring them to me and I'll do it. As he stated, there are some people I could give them a new truck ( free ) a tank full of gas and a year of free maintenance, yet they would whine, some how we screwed them. So I explain to them " we just don't think we can make you happy today", so then ? The WORST they can say, is you didn't and wouldn't do business with them. How YOU get treated by anyone is how YOU act. We are busy enough I do not have to baby sit drama baby's

    TKevlar; Glad you found someone else to do your work; the rest of your post is somewhat B.S., but it is a "screen name" thing here Ha Ha Ha And you are right, there is some work and some people I do not want to do work for, Shops have that option.

    Sincerely, WVG

    Hey George let me know if this is something you could do. I have a Mauser 98 action that I have installed in a wood laminate stock. I have a take-off 8mm Mauser barrel that the military 'steps' have been turned down to a taper and would like it cut to 22", crowned and installed (headspaced) onto the action. I would like an inexpensive low scope safety installed, and the bolt needs a turn-up of some sort, it opens very hard (cock on opening). Then to finish it off, just an inexpensive flat black finish, except for the bolt. When I say inexpensive, I just want to make sure you're not going to use the most expensive materials you can find, this is going to be a back-of-the-truck gun when I'm farming.

    Dear 6killer;

    Without seeing the firearm, there is no way to give a quote. That's like how much to restore or repaint my car. I only do quality work but at a good price.
    If inexpensive is the key word then all's I can say is I don't turn out "inexpensive" kind of work on firearms. It's first rate, quality work or I don't/won't do it.
    It is the shop's name going out on the completed job.

    Hey George I didn't ask for a quote, was wondering if you do that kind of work or not. I also didn't ask you to do inexpensive work. Please re-read my statement. I'm not asking if you do shoddy work! Let me know what you think I'd be glad to bring it by.

    Why is the rest of my post BS? And the coin has two sides. Sure shops have that option.....ever wonder why "I" stopped doing work for you? I will cut to the chase and say this: I tell EVERYONE I come into contact with about my experience with you. I may be a little fish in a big pond but I make a helluva wake. If anyone else is looking to this outfit for work, PM me for all the other details I have but don't want to drag into the forum.

    Well then I suppose Gunshop's should post their "Dissatisfaction" with potential or customer's they have contact with ? Of course, that would be real names and
    not little "screen names" people hide behind Of course the crying would begin LOL !

    PM you privately ? Can't / Won't say it here ? Really ? Well there's some validation in what you say. Maybe our current customer's will PM you that
    are on here and we can see what your "screen name" has to say in private. Big Wake from a Little Fish, highly doubt it, but hey... EVERYBODY's a Big Fish
    on the Net Keep talking about smack someone who's been here for 25yrs doing every one's work, and they'll know your a "drama baby" too.

    Really, we'll be O.K. with out your approval ; We were here way before the net and lil fish's We'll be just fine Nemo
