I guess I should have mentioned it was from a security cam at the range. I just found it again. It was easy to search for under "shooting range shooting". It does not show the actual shootings, but it shows her son taking aim at his target in his lane, and her taking aim at the back of her sons head. The rest was edited out, except for the guy in the next lane turning and seeing her laying on the floor after it was over, and calling for help. It was with rented guns, so I now fully understand the reasoning behind the Clackamas Sheriff’s shooting range wanting you to bring a firearm to be able to rent.
Ok, subject back to Keith’s. I was in Keith’s a couple of weeks ago. I mostly wanted to look and feel guns I normally have no access to at all. I was able to look at and handle everything I wanted to. It was a week day, so I didn’t have to wait for a salesperson at all. In fact, I had one in my face before I was ready. The person was friendly and helpful. They had my next gun in stock, but I thought I could get it thru the LGS for about the same price or cheaper. I was wrong. The price at my LGS was $58 more than Keith’s out the door price. I ended up buying it from Buds online, and it will come to $1 more out the door than if I had bought it at Keith’s, and I still won’t see the gun till next week. If I had bought the gun at Keith’s, I’d have had the gun for a heck of a lot less hassle, and would already have put a few rounds thru it. I’m still kicking myself for not buying at Keith’s.
I did think Keith’s prices of AK-47's was a little steep. The only thing that bugged me was a guy who obviously worked at the store openly carrying, and telling the person helping me where to find such and such a gun, but looking at me like I was a criminal, and never talking to me directly. What’s up with that?
Dealing with Keith himself is perfectly fine. Dealing with his minions is a roll of the dice sometimes.
My family has purchased thousands of dollars worth of firearms from him and it's always stellar and the prices were hard to beat.
Keiths is the only one offering LEO/MIL prices for Glocks.
My bad experiences are just with his little minions and I got stories left and right but with Keith himself, always stellar.
I just purchased two rifles at Keiths. They had the best selection I have seen in ages. They had a left handed Savage in stock when all the other stores I'd called this morning chuckled something like "That will not be fun to find!"
They held it for me and processed the paperwork quickly and smiled the whole time I was in the shop. Keiths gets a big vote of "Good Gun Dealer" fom me.
The lady who handed me the two rifles was not the same lady who drew up the invoice and called in the background check so she verified my serial numbers matched box, receipt, and rifle. That is exactly as it should be!
It is not rude customer service as in an audit or sting there is limited margin for error on mixed up numbers.
The nice lady at the couter said today was a slow day and they probably delivered 8 firewarms while were there. They must do something right. I'll be back to Keiths when what I am looking for is not something stocked on my side of town.

Ok guys, all of this is new to me and I have a few questions to help make a decision.... I am looking at either buying a 1911A1-45FS RIA TAC with the DURACOAT finish ($445.00 on GB with free shipping) or the TAURUS 1911 .45 ACP PISTOL WITH PICATINNY RAILS (Around $589). I am looking for a quality long term gun, that is fun and accurate...
So my questions are:
1: Which would you choose?
2: If you were going to deal local who would you call for price?
3: If you were going to deal online who would you look to?
4: Is there a better choice out there?
5: If done online I will need a FFL contact (Beaverton to Salem) if you have any referrals.
Thanks for any and all assistance...
I agree the Tuarus is built out of better materials all the way around. It is the better choice. I've owned both FWIW and the poor RIA was sloppy (poorly fitted and machined) and beat itself to death. Mind you the RIA fed and fired anything I put in it, but it's fit, finish, acurracy, and metalurgy was not so good. It had vissible dents where the barrel lugs engaged the frame when i sold it. Don't get me wrong I did enjoy the gun and for what I paid for it brad new it was great! ($269's a few years back fwiw) The price has gone up substantially since then but I do not believe the quality has at all.
So why would that make any difference? You can kill or be killed with a rented gun just as easily as your own!!
It's been proved time and time again that there is no law or rule that will prevent taking a life. The loonies even do it in England and Australia and they have far more rules and fewer guns than here.

It's true there is no rule that prevents someone from taking a life, but a private business, or even the public range has the right to dictate that you have to wear a stuffed Peacock Hat with lace fringe if it so strikes them.
We spend our money at ranges where we approve of the rules. So it goes.
The right to bear arms is not a mandate that everyone has easy, instant access to them regardless of their financial considerations. If you can't afford to buy a gun to kill yourself, perhaps the time it takes you to collect cans on the roadside to buy a Hi-point will give you the perspective to enjoy the gift that is each next breath before you do.
(Edit- Mods- Might want to clean this up where it ceases to be specific to Keith's)
Best prices around. Yea that draws a lot of people and 70% are probably not buyers on any given day. I find the busier they are the less service you get. I was there one Saturday morning with a trade and a purchase. Had the store to myself and everyone was friendly and helpful. They gave me a great price on my trade and my purchase. I have been there when they were slammed and yea the friendliness was a lot less. I can understand.
The price brings me there (80 miles round trip by the way) and the price will keep me going there.
Great prices, poor customer service & very low trade offers. This is the place to go for new guns and great prices; just don't try to trade anything!
My experience with keith's was at the gun show and not at the store, but I have to rate their customer service with two difference scores: 1 and 4.
The 1: There was an employee behind the tables (I think his name was Rob - glasses, salt and pepper hair, very well put together, kinda metrosexual like) that acted so mind bogglingly disinterested in talking to anyone that it was like pulling teeth dealing with him. If I'm such an inconvenience to talk to then no problem, I won't hand over my money.
But the 4: There was a man and woman - both probably lower fifties - who were very helpful.
The first guy still left a bad taste in my mouth. I just hate poor customer service like that (and seem to run into it a lot around Portland).
I only bought gun from him once and that's enough will not comeback again to buy another, I rather pay a few $ more but got excellent service. I go to Gun-Zone to buy mine now, very nice people and good price.
If only people stop buying gun from him, maybe he will realize that He got lousy customer service.
I have purchased from Keith's and never had an issue on my end. had a good selection and gave me a great discount.
Personally, I have no desire to have my questions answered at the gun shop. I get my question answered through research on the web, then get shooting experience by renting guns.
Then I go to Keith's and handle the 2 or 3 that I am looking at and I ALWAYS buy at Keith's. They have excellent prices and they are simple in their customer service.
I don't really want to be chatted up and I have ne desire to show off what little knowledge I have. I'm sure they just get tired of cowboys fondling their guns and telling their stories of gun grandeur.
Go to Keith's!
I have purchased several guns from Keiths and plenty of ammo. Of the half dozen times I've done business I've always been treated like I was an idiot and they didn't have the time to wait on me. Most recently I was at the Redmond OR gunshow. I am always sure someone is there and ask before handling the merchandise. After asking and receiving permission to handle an AK47, I simply lifted up the rear sight to see if there was any rust. It was a rather rough looking rifle. I was admonished to "don't take that apart!" the tone and looks I was given made me feel like a misbehaving schoolboy. I will admit that there is a lot I don't know, but I'm pretty sure the rear sight has nothing to do with disassembly (I do own AK variants). Up to that moment I was considering purchasing the rifle. Instead I just put it down and walked away. Never again will I give my money to that business.
