Haven't seen a poll like this on other sites. Good idea.

O.F.A. rates full marks as far as I am concerned. Based on range/shoot house lay out, staff, (including senior sheriff trainer, lawyer, bodyguard/close protection specialist,wilderness survival expert etc.), content and upgrades to it as things evolve, and student support.

There are other good schools in the northwest for sure. But I must admit, when I plan vacations to include training, I look at O.F.A. schedules first to see if I can fit them in.

I have been there just once....for their Defensive Handgun 1. So my observations are based on a one-day experience.

I was impressed with their organization, their professionalism, their courtesy, their focus on safety. No criticism comes to mind.

I am sure that there are other good similar outfits, but for my money, my experience was outstanding. I plan to go back.

I loved taking classes at OFA,great bunch of guys,their basic handguns safety course I think is THE best to take for anybody thinking of getting a CCW I know its longer than most classes for ccw but worth the time and money,defensive handgun 1 is a blast too!

I have not taken a class there yet but I have talked to some of the guys there. I believe that they offer free classes to the spouse of anyone deployed. Pretty cool in my book.

The most comprehensive, well-organized, high-end firearms training facility I've ever seen. Definitely, will be taking additional classes there.

OFA is the best. So helpful and so informative. I have taken Defensive Handgun 1 and will be taking the Defensive Carbine in July 2010. PM if you want to know any more details about my experience there.

Training prices aren't the lowest in the country (but might be in the northwest) but you still get more than your money's worth. Great facility. No attitudes or egos, just professionals. I really took a liking to Dan & Shawn, in particular, during my courses. They're real mentors.

They are one of the top rated schools. That's why I'll take the nine hour drive to get there. It is a measure of how they also train and look for instructor staff. I have yet to meet any staff who have the I know it all, do it my way attitude that some other schools may have.

As for cost, they are the same as most others, and in some cases cheaper. No one should use price as a factor, although we all understand training dollars may be tight. I have been to courses costing way more over a weekend, and spent a lot of time doing nothing. O.F.A., uses the time well to fit in all they can. It is of course dependant on how fast the students are moving along.

So, any of you guys doing the Glock course in two weeks at O.F.A.? See you there.

Granted I don't have any other training to compare to OFA but the 3 handgun courses I have taken have been outstanding. I am very much looking forward to my defensive carbine course in early June.
