    Hi Dan

I have been waiting for a chance to take some of your classes and this looks like it may be the one. I notice on the website it says "Prerequisites: Basic Handgun Safety or Equivalent" but you did not list that requirement. Also it says no .22 allowed and I was wondering if there is a reason not to allow .22 conversions especially with the current ammo situation ?

    Thanks

The off site DH1 is EXACTLY the same as the on-campus course in all requirements and in content. The exception is we'll be adding about 20 to 30 minutes at the end of the course for those who want the IPSC and Action Range certification for TCGC.

    Say OFADAN,

mccullogh: asked, "I notice on the website it says "Prerequisites: Basic Handgun Safety or Equivalent" but you did not list that requirement". What are considered "equivalen"? I've had handguns all my life, have OR & WA CWL, but what formal classes would I need for this class?

PM me if it would make it easier...

    Thanks,

Our minimum requirement is ideally you've had some training at a basic "knowledge" level which includes handgun safety, Conceal Carry & Firearms Laws as well as a good, heavy, dose of Judicious Use of Deadly Force and how to mitigate your Criminal and Civil Liabilities. This prior basic course should also include exposing students to other alternatives and options instead of deadly force.

We also expect a DH1 student to have a good grasp of what they're prepared to say or not say to the first officers/invesgitators on the scene after an attack prior to consultation with your attorney. We're also assuming a DH1 Student has had some training on the five fundamentals of marksmanship, Adminstrative Loading, Unloading and Handgun Inspection, Charging & Discharging Magazines, the Ready Position (both Compressed and Extended), Verbalization and an After Action Response. These are all concepts, skills, and tactics taught in our Basic Handgun Safety class.

Realistically this isn't always the case...so....

The bottom line is if you have a valid Concealed Handgun License from any state then we work around these minimum requirements because we're assuming these individuals have had some exposure to these concepts...if they don't then they get caught up in a hurry!

We cannot expect everyone to train with us prior to DH1 so if you have your CHL or CWP then we'll work with you to get you caught up if you have some gaps in skills or knowlege.

    Hope this answers your question.
