Have for sale an extremely slightly used In-the-Box Bark River Knife & Tool Aurora fixed blade knife with Green Micarta scales. It retails for $229 and the lowest price I can find them on-line is $179. I'll let this one go for $155 plus shipping.
If you follow any of the blade trends you'll learn BRKT is one of the hottest production knives on the market and the Aurora is one of the "fav's" of the wilderness/survival/hunting crowd. There is even a Bark River Collection Society and many of their knives are collectable - they certainly have a huge following!
OFA bought the knife because we had heard so many great things about the BRKT knives but have never handled one. Anyway, it is NIB but Joel, our Lead Wilderness Survival Instructor, did whittle one notch in a fireboard while sitting in the Shooting Shack and I sliced a couple wood curls just to see how it performed. In fact if we didn't mentioned we used it slightly one would never know - it is clean and in new like condition. Never been sharpened! Nice knife and performed these tasks with ridiculas ease.
It is a convex edge which was the only edge available until the modern industrial revolution of the extreme late 19th and early 20th century. When you go into the field it can be sharpened on a leather boot, taunt pants, cardboard box, or even a rock - making it very field ready! You don't need a dedicated knife sharpener or extra tools. Just follow this link to the collectors website and there is a link on the right hand side to a .pdf giving you instructions on how to strop the blade. http://www.barkriverknives.com/home.html
The Bark River Aurora is the Flagship of BRKT's Outdoor Bushcraft Series. It is at home cutting, carving or notching wood. The Aurora can be Batoned to cut firewood--make tinder and is razor sharp.
Just email or PM if you're intersested.
