The first and last are pretty easy to loose traction on wet pavement if you apply too much power. Given the low temps we've had the last few days - I wouldn't even rule out icy pavement. Any vehicle will slide on ice regardless of front, rear, or all wheel drive. Cop should have taken that into account? If he didn't - the DA should. Hope you don't NEED the services of the lawyer, but taking your story at face value - I hope this nonsense goes away for you.
I've seen first hand the results of DUII crashes, and I support tougher sentances for people who really are drunk behind the wheel. While I've worked a number of accidents caused by texting drivers - none have involved serious injuries, and none have caused fatalities. DUII drivers on the other hand were responsible for almost every fatal crash I've cleaned up.
