    I was taught that if you know help is on its way apply pressure by standing on the wound. We got to practice on pigs in teams of 3, to try to clamp it with a hemostat and failed miserably.

    brilliant, shoot a bad guy and then not call the cops and let him leave so he can lie and crucify you later for shooting him!

    Yeah there were several mistakes here.
    1. Shooting a "warning" shot. Most likely he shot at him and lied to say it was a warning.
    2. Leaving the scene of the incident, and not calling the LEOs immediately. The guy who calls first is usually looked at as the victim.
    3. Leaving a witness. I'm not saying killing a person would be a good thing, but if he did have a gun, it would be there next to his body. And a body can't sue you, or lie about their side of the story.
