Default If you couldn't own a gun...

How would you protect yourself? At home, on the street, or in a vehicle what would you choose and why?

I carry a large tanto style locking folder. Durable, sharp and easy to open with one hand.

In my Jeep I have a sharpened Cold Steel special forces shovel. Good tool, will slash like a sword or chop like a hatchet and looks like a shovel not a weapon.

Next to nightstand I have a Wakizashi style short samurai sword. Shorter blade easier to wield in a room. Still enough to strike at a distance and slash, stab or chop up a burglar etc.

In the car, I'd carry a teenager-sized metal baseball bat, along with a ball and glove for a covering excuse.

    At home, just the bat.

On the street, probably a telescoping baton kept in a pocket.

By "couldn't own a gun" do you mean "couldn't own a gun LEGALLY" or "you live in a world where guns don't exist."

    Not that I'm implying anything...

While I'm in Russia (real steel pistols are prohibited there) I carry two knives, one on the left side, other one the right and OC or CS spray in the pocket. Theoretically, it's possible to have a traumatic pistol (it shoots rubber bullet, impossible to use real ones), but the process of obtaining license is made the way to make it harder for people to get one.
PS LEO in Russia usually gives A LOT of sh..t to people carrying even a single small knife. I heard about a f..g who used to break people's knives if he found any during search.

Actually, you're wrong about Soviet Russia. In 70s(I believe) it was possible to buy a rimfire rifle or a shotgun in general store just the way it was possible to buy a shovel. Person walks in, person buys shotgun, person leaves...simple as that.

I would have 3 Rots or Dobermans to watch chase people and bite the heck out of them.

I'm a decent shot with my bow and arrow setup for longish range. For up close quarters, short bladed sword all the way. And bear pepper spray.

I have always had a strange fascination with blades.
So my handy dandy Buck-Knife would be strapped on.
A baton may break bones if used properly, but can be defended against easier than a madman with a BIG KNIFE!!!

    Default Mace Pepper Gun!

Once again let me praise this brilliant design! Google it; it's even in the Cabela's catalog. It's all metal, shaped like a snubby revolver for a very natural fire. It has a quite positive safety, and a BRIGHT LED light that blinds an attacker and focuses the spray on the target just like a pistol lazer does--the spray hits right where the light centers. It fires from any angle, does not need shaking, fires a strong focused spray, and has an honest-to-gawd twenty-foot reach! This is what I carry when I cannot carry a pistol.........................elsullo

Two hands, two feet, two elbows, two knees, forehead, teeth. Although an ASP on the belt might be handy.
