Default Time for a game of: What is the box?

Picked this up in a trade and think it's an awesome box for storage, and wanted to find a few more... but, can't find them.
Pretty sure it's surplus, looks like it's last mission was carrying test ammo somewhere.

"Ammunition for cannon with solid projectiles"
    "lot LC 1-2"
    "Small Arms Ammo
    Box MK 1 Mod 0
    (serial number)"
That's on the removable lid ( has 6 latches to hold it )

    Any ideas?

20mm Vulcan Chain ammo... Practice rounds meaning they are FMJ for the most part... i.e. not delpeated Uranium or HE rounds.

    ah okay, cool thank you.
Asked an ex-navy friend and she confirmed it.
it's bigger then the 20mm army boxes, but I like it. kinda treasure-chest sized.

    USNavy 20mm: 9 1/2" x 18" x 15"
    USArmy 20mm: 7" x 17" x 14"

I saw some of these boxs in a Army surplus store in springfield, on saturday. I didn't note how much they were but that they had a few of them.

I do like it Hope to get a few more. Gave it a good scrub and will probably put a coat of primer on it to protect it.

oh, did the "bullet math" on it:

    9-1/2 x 18 x 15 Bullet Box size Total Rounds
    7.62x54R 2-3/16 x 3-3/16 x 1-3/4 3200
    7.62x39 2-5/16 x 2 x 1-11/16 4900
    9mm ~10000
    .22lr 2-7/16 x 1-1/4 x 1-1/16 28700
