Thread: Hello from Vancouver, WA

Hi -- just discovered this great forum.

I'm a real newbie and just finished a basic handgun class and have been to a range a few times.

I've applied for the WA CPL and once I get it am looking to buy my first gun (probably a Glock 17 or 19).

For those of you from WA, I've heard it can be problematic getting the Carry license for OR as a non-resident...any advice? (I will take the required course but have heard that depending upon which sherriff's office you go to you may or may not get the permit approved).

There's a number of threads on this topic. Multnomah county is actually pretty good. Sheriff Palmer from Grant County will also go to Vancouver to accept apps occasionally. I think its usually once or twice a year.

Look at the CHL portion of each county on the sheriff's website and call if you have questions.
