Default Push for stronger self-defense law in WA

Push on for stronger self-defense law in WA

Washington State armed citizens are being lobbied to push for adoption of a proposed statute that will strengthen the Evergreen State’s lethal force self-defense law, a measure that was introduced in January and now waits for more co-sponsors.

Makes sense to me. I never understood why any law-abiding citizen should be required to retreat when someone is committing a crime against them. What sense does it make that I should barricade myself in my bedroom if I hear someone break into my home. I think criminals should realize that their actions have consequences and one of those consequences is getting shot.

You don't have to retreat in WA State. Still it's a VERY good idea to codify this into a clear and obvious RCW

I really like the financial compensation clause for unjust prosecution, that should minimize such cases and compensate when there is injustice

I see nothing wrong with calling it the, "Shoot a Burglar" statute. Maybe it would cause some in this "profession" to find their souls and pursue a legitimate livelihood.

We do not have to retreat in WA, but it is still possible to be arrested and charged, that is, the powers that be can still make you life misrable if they so desire.
