I don't see any problems with her buying you a gun as a gift..... as far as a bill of sell goes, my friend knows a retired judge (Portland judge) and my friend found out from the judge that a bill of sale made in a private sale is not something that will hold up in court. It is not an official document or legal document... something in those lines..... correct me if I am wrong. So as long as the gun isn't reported stolen I don't think it matters who's position it's in as long as the person is not a felon or the person is not concealing without a permit lol. As far as the age thing with your son, I believe you have to be 18 to own a rifle or a shotgun..... you can however own a pistol if your not 21 but you can't go buy one from the store or gun shop.... again correct me if I am wrong when it comes to a person under 21 having a pistol/handgun
Well as it turns out, we bought a 10/22 for my son - and - my incredible wife surprised me with one too!
No purchasing problems were encountered and we feel better with the understanding this thread has provided. Even though we think of my son's rifle as "his" gun, it's technically ours (mine, I guess) and stays locked in our safe unless I take him out shooting.
