Default Buying firearms/accessories in WA and gifting them to family in CA

I have family California who are very envious of the relatively relaxed firearms rules of Washington. Is it legal for me to puchase weapons or accessories here in WA (that are illegal to sell in CA) and give these items as gifts to my family? For example, my brother wants hi capacity 10/22 magazines for Christmas.

It is against the laws of the Kalifornia Soviet Socialist Republic for their peons to purchase firearms in a free State. I'm not sure about gifts but I believe that the Reich Fuhrers want to know about every firearm that enters that state so I'd be very careful. Whatever you do, do it on the Q.T! As they said in WW2: "Loose Lips Sink Ships!"

Only if it is coming from an FFL not from a private sale

The only accessories that shoud be illegal in California should be the Hi Cap mags, it is illegal for your brother to possess them if they were not in his prior to Jan 01 2001....California now limits their mag capacity to 10. BUT if he owned the mags in question and needed to replace them due wear or damage you can disassemble the mags and send hit the re-build kit.

As for the firearms, I am pretty sure the relationship is parent>child or child>parent and btwn spouses....I dont think it goes brother>brother. It may also require the person gifting the firearm live in the state iirc.

#5 Can I give a firearm to my adult child? Can he/she give it back to me later?

Yes, as long as the adult child receiving the firearm is not in a prohibited category PDF logo [PDF 10 kb / 1 pg] and the firearm is a legal firearm to possess, the transfer of a firearm between a parent and child or a grandparent and grandchild is exempt from the dealer transfer requirement. However, if the firearm is a handgun, you must submit an Report of Operation of Law or Intra-Familial Handgun Transaction PDF logo [PDF 481 kb / 2 pg] and $19 fee to the DOJ within 30 days. Assault weapons may not be transferred in this fashion. See Penal Code section 12285, subdivision (b).
