Default whats the best 12 ga shells to use on coyotes?

like the tittle says, whats the best 12 ga shell to use on coyotes? i take my 223 but i also take a shotgun for those ones that come in from behind you that are darn close when i first spot them or for the runners that come in full speed and dont stop until they are on top of my decoy or call.

    whats your favorite?

I used #4 buck in a 3", 1 3/4oz load before and that would take them out at 50-75 yards.

I use the Federal #4 Buck 3" load with 41 pellets and a light full choke. Seems to work very well.

Depends on the load & what range you shoot them at. Are you keeping the pelts? I've shot a few at close range, they made a mess out of the dog & the pelt was scrap.

Easier for the dogs to find a hole in the 9 pellet 00 pattern at extended ranges also. It's harder for them to get through 41 #4 buck.

It's hard to beat #4, I agree. It's also what I use for my personal house load.

Even in 2-3/4 inch shell, #4 buckshot will git er done.
