    Default shotgun mag capacity

I am wanting to hunt with a mossberg 500 with a 7 round mag, if i put a "plug" in the mag to limit it to 2 rounds is it legal to hunt with, and what counts as a legal"plug"
    Thanks.

Yes, and any thing that prevents the magazine from holding more then 2, 2 3/4" shells, like a wooden plug.

Mossberg uses what looked to me like a piece of 1/4" diameter wood dowel, on the 500 series guns it is inserted into the same hole the barrel threads into. I have taken many out, never put any back in...

Lost my plug for awhile and stuck the straight part of a plastic coat hanger, cut to approx lenth, and used that for awhile. Anything that stops too many shells from fitting will do the trick

The factory hardwood dowel is 1/4" x 8 1/2" long.
