Default S&W 686 Rear Sight (rounded corner) Mount Screw

Does anybody know the screw/thread size of the mounting screw on the 686.? i just bought a B-square scope mount and the screws included are either larger or smaller than the original mounting screw for the rear sight. called S&W to ask for the thread size and i brought the screw to the fastener shop. S&W parts guy said don't know and the fastener shop said don't have it from, try S&W.
any help would be appreciated, thx.

You need to be careful of the overall length of these screws when installing this type of base. The holes are drilled all the way through and if you have too much screw hanging out the bottom it can damage your cylinder.

I haven't measured the threads on these screws; but 6 x 48 'sounds' to be about right. While this is a "Standard" thread the 'Head' and 'Overall Length' seldom are on S&Ws.
