Default Places to carry a BUG.... thoughts??

I recently purchased a Sig P238 to use as a back up gun or as one to use when im jogging or making a quick trip to the store...

I don't really care for pocket carry and i carry my main gun a G27 or Sig P239 .40 IWB at 3 O'clock. I was thinking of trying out an ankle holster (that would go on my left leg on the inside, so I could access it with my right hand)

Also it is better to Carry a BUG or A few spare mags for your Primary? or do both?

    Let the suggestions Begin

A BUG should be accessible to your off hand (both hands would be even better) in case your primary is taken out of the fight either through injury or restraint.

Ankle carry is like everything else, it has its pros and cons. They are slow to access and telegraphic while standing, but are great for covert draw while sitting. How much driving do you do, are you a deck jockey? If so ankle carry is a good thing. They are no good with shorts obviously.

If I had to choose between a BUG and spare mag, I’d go with the BUG. If your primary is lost, malfunctions or damaged in the fight, spare mag are of no use, rather then attempt to diagnose the problem while on the two way range go for the New York reload. All that said I choose both.

I like to carry on my belt a pair of Glock 19s, both AIWB with spare mages at 3 & 9 o’clock. I have also carried my primary and spare mag AIWB and my BUG off side IWB with another mag on the opposite side.

Warning if you decide to go with AIWB be sure you understand it fully and be aware of the repercussions of an ND while doing so. This mode of carry is NOT for everybody.

Given that, I say once again.

This is a dedicated users mode of carry and should only be used by those who are.

I've got a p238 too and I've been carrying in the pocket. Although it is comfortable, the draw is pretty lame. I've been thinking of picking up one of these:
    MiniTuck

I'm used to carrying full size in an IWB so this should be great.

AIWB is my primary carry. Fastest response time from any draw situation I can imagine, and since it's a revolver I don't have to worry about a safety or malfunction. Were I to carry a BuG it would be an auto in a slightly larger calibre, SoB carry.

AOWB, handing off a magazine to your wife for backup doesn't work as well as a BUG.

    Default re..

Weak side hip or cross draw. I have plenty of weak side hip holsters from when I broke my strong side hand. Only downside to this is that the significant other might call you "gunslinger" or "Tex"

I don't have any suggestions for a BUG but I use a smart carry w/P380 for when I am walking the dogs or jogging/running. Works great for athletic attire as there is no weight on you shorts/pants to pull them down. Stays put even when running. No bouncing or flopping around. Not the gun anyways.
