What is the deal with the no dash, does that add value? I am unfamiliar with that. Can you explain it please?

No dash means it is the original configuration of a model common to S&W. Example: 649, 649-1, 649-2, etc. The dash numbers indicate an engineering change to the original design. Hope this helps.
