Default Smith and Wesson #10 re-assembly help needed

I installed a reduced power spring+mainspring and for the life of me I couldn't get it back together with the bobby pin looking safety thing. I put it together without it and it seems to work fine, is it OK?
And the yoke seems to swing out a little stiff is that normal?

Another good reason to have a good gunsmith in your back pocket.

I assume you are talking about the hammer block, instead of placing it into the frame and trying to install the sideplate, place it in it's slot in the side plate and keep it there with a bit of grease, then install the sideplate.

If the yolk is stiffer than before you likely over tightened the front plate tension screw, try backing off the front plate screw a little.

If you are referring to the hammer block (as mentioned by coop), it is NOT okay.

"...we shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender..."
