    Default AR-15 Tactical Carbine Handguards

Hey Guys, I am gauging interest here with you AR15 guys. I have just put up a deal on my website offering Midwest Industries T7 Free Floating carbine length Handguards for sale with a "Special Installed Price" Check here:
    http://www.arjunkie.com/handguards.htm

I am going to offer an even better deal on the installed handguards to NorthwestFirearms.com forum members at $20 off the advertised price. This is for the installed option. I will only do this if I "Do Not Have To Ship" & we can do a FTF deal.
I can also sell the handguards uninstalled to members for a 10% discount FTF.
The installed version being the better bargain in my eyes but the uninstalled option isn't bad either as long as you have the skills and tools. I've been working on AR's for years and I do clean work. I don't like dings and scratches on my stuff either!
    PM me if interested.

Does this cause the delta ring to not be needed any more? I've installed a YHM-9431A and like it much better than factory configuration -- easier to work on.

Yes, the Delta Ring goes bye bye and your potential for better accuracy goes up too since there is no more contact of the handguard & the barrel forward of the barrel nut anymore!

I would be interested, but I do have a technical question. I own a Bushmaster with the 16” Barrel that has a threaded “Birdcage” Flash Suppressor. I read somewhere that the suppressor is welded to the barrel. Can a one piece handguard like this still be added?

    Thanx JB

The suppressor is not welded to the barrel on a Bushmaster 16". I've replaced the bird cage with another suppressor, so it's just a matter of using locking pliers and turning really hard to loosen the suppressor. The free float handguard being advertised should work just fine.

What I'd like to know is how is this superior to the YHM-9431A (just for the part), has removable rails, and has ellipses instead of holes down the length of the handguard on each side? I'm interested in the product.

Zombie, I love the YHM diamonds. I know some guys complain that they are not true milspec but other than that I have never heard of any trouble with them. The Midwest Industries T7 is for some metallurgical reason unknown to me a lighter unit and just a bit cleaner with true mil spec rail dimensions. They are both great in my eyes but law enforcement and military guys are avoiding them I believe because of the mil spec issue. I lean a bit toward the Midwest Industries stuff because of superior customer service and a slightly more robust design from an installers standpoint. Hope that answered your question.
    Best,
    Ron.

Are you saying that military are avoiding YHM or Midwest due to a mil spec issue?

I can't say that the military is avoiding them but I can say that "some" guys with military & police background that I know and know of avoid them on account of this. The government is like my ex wife, better off not trying to figure them out.

It's still not clear to me: are the people you know avoiding YHM, or avoiding Midwest?

Sorry I didn't clarify. They avoid YHM. I've heard some complaints that some mil spec accessories fit loosely. I haven't had a problem with YHM myself.
