Default WTS: Blackwell Industries AR lowers

For sale are our own line of AR lowers. We have about 80 in stock (as 17 MAR 09) and they are $165.00 each (that includes the WA sales tax or the cost of shipping... they both are close to the same price). If you need to have them shipped to your FFL, please have your FFL enclosed in payment or they may email us (customerservice@blackwellindustries.com) their FFL.

Our lowers are manufactured with Mega Machine out of Tumwater, WA. If you do not know who they are do your own research and read the great reviews of their products. There are several big names in the AR world who sub contract with them (please do not ask me as I am following their non-disclosure rule) and you will not be disapointed in the quality of their workmanship.

We do not have Lower parts kits (LPK's) in stock as we are waiting for ours just like everyone else is. Trust me if we had them we would be happy to offer them to you.

Visit our web sight at http://blackwellindustries.com/

    Thank you and safe shooting.

Do you have pictures of your lowers? Forged? Machined?

I tried finding it on your website but didn't have much success.

    Pictures are up and coming.

Bottom line they are forged to mil-spec and then paid great attention to detail by the watchful and the "obssesive-compulsive-disorder" eyes of the Mega Machine crew. When our pictures are posted in a few days I will point out the high lights of our receivers and the differences of a very "Big" name in the AR world.

I am not trying to create an argument with anyone but we were the first ones to come to the civilian market with the HK style pictograms and we still carry them on our receivers. Should anyone wish to prove me wrong we still have a lower made by Olympic Arms with the safe/fire pictograms and we still have the variance letter from the BATF with the dates of when those first 30 receivers were made. I am open minded enough to admit when I am wrong but after our receivers were made, pictures of them were passed through out the internet and all of the sudden there has been a craze of AR lowers with the HK style pictograms on them. If I am wrong on this somebody please educate me.

Besides the HK style pictograms on both sides of the receivers, ours are "multiple caliber" for those uptight areas that require you to shoot the caliber that is marked on the firearm. We have never heard of a court case (yet) where this was an issue but ours are ready should such an issue ever come up. Also we have a simple target cross hairs on our lower and no Lions, Tigers, Bears, Snakes, Griffins, Deer, Horses or insects on our lowers. At this time we are not engraving any comic book characters on our lowers either, but if there were a high enough demand for them, we will. We want a nice clean AR lower for our customers.

This is the first time we have advertised outside of the Gunshows and the FAL Files (FALFiles.com). With this forum in our own backyard, how could we not advertise here. There are members here who probably already have done business with us and we wish to continue offering our products and services at a more local level.

    Thank you and safe shooting.

Thank you for your response. I look forward to seeing the pictures and your comments on your lower. The information you had in your response was (in-line) the sort of information I was lookin' for.

I was under the impression that if the lower receivers were NOT complete, they did not have to go through an FFL. Am I wrong?

You are wrong. The lower receiver is the ONLY thing that needs to go through the FFL, but it always does from a mfg->consumer.

The stripped 'lower' is considered the firearm, since it is the part with the serial number, and the part registered with the ATF.

    Keane-

Thank you for addressing 284guys question.

At this time we do not have any uppers available. If we did they would come from Mega and they are booked solid with orders on their uppers with a REEEEEAAALLLLLYY BIG name in the AR-15 world. Trust me I was surprised when I found this out.

Thank you for interest in our products and hope to see you this weekend at the Puyallup Gun show.

    Thank you and safe shooting.

What about them do you feel that makes them best in the business?

As far as photos go, here is a link from Calguns.net to help with showing the differences between manufacturers. You'll notice the similarities between some of the big names and the OP went ahead and told everyone who makes receivers for who, basically.

Enjoy and I hope this helps!

Ok so who in this post has an FFL that could recieve a few of these for those of us in Oregon? I would be interested in a 2 or 3. Depending on how low we could get the price down to.

You can buy them from the guys at the Puyallup Gun Show this weekend, as a rifle. Oregon residents can purchase it as a rifle from a WA FFL. Check with Coctailer, he has an OR FFL and might be willing to trade FFL info with Blackwell and sell you some lowers.

Wichaka- I believe MEGA is the best in the business considering who they make receivers, both upper and lower, for. Their attention to detail, clean lines, Type-A personalities and plain OCD shows in their products. Also, the hard anodizing performed is stronger than your average found on Stag, RRA, Double Star, etc.

The only issue I have ever had is a PMag fitting very tightly. I would rather have a tight receiver, than one that is all out of spec and sloppy. They also ONLY use Cerro Forge forgings(AKA: the famed "Key Hole Forge"), which are highly regarded as the most precise forgings on the market.

I own 3 receivers currently. The metal ones are MEGA(got rid of my DPMS is favor of a MEGA) and a Cav Arms MK II. The MEGA fit and finish is SECOND TO NONE.

    Hope this helps! Mike

I'll disagree on the coating unless they got their crap together. Overall I'm happy with the lower I have from them- but wouldn't go out of my way for a Mega.

If you are to far south in Oregon and don't feel like driving to Puyallup, have your gun shop send us their FFL to here: http://blackwellindustries.com

Once we have the FFL and payment in hand we will ship them out to your gun shop.

Where in Oregon are you located? We could have your gun shop in our records already.

As for pricing, the receivers are selling $165.00 each. I have seen our receivers sell on here as private party for over $200.00+ Go figure on that one. I could be interested in a group buy of 10 or more receivers being shipped to the same FFL, but not shipping 10 receivers to 10 different FFL's. The devil is in the paper work. If it were March, 2008 it would be a different story. So get some friends together and rally at your local gun shop.

    Thank you and safe shooting-

If we were able to get a medium to large(10-30ish) group buy going what type of pricing could we expect?

I would be in for one, even if I had to drive up, assuming the price got a bit better...
