So i have been wanting to purchase some kydex for a while and try my hand at molding my own "phantom" type holster. However, all I can seem to find in the retail variety of kydex is 4'x8' sheets. If I can get enough people to make it cost effective to buy a whole sheet and cut it up to everyone's desired length then it seems like a great opportunity to make some cost effective custom holsters (the supplier i would order from has offered to cut it up prior to pickup).
Heres the math:
Full sheet of .080'' thick kydex 4'x8' = $130
Thats 32 ft^2 of kydex at about $4.25 per square foot (thats ~$4 for the actual cost and $.25 for my gas : )
I would like to buy 6-8 square feet for myself. That leaves ~24 square feet left to whoever wants it.
If you are interested please post with the square footage you require and an email address. I will monitor this thread and if there is ever enough people who would like to join in then i will send out an email to each person, get final conformation and order the sheet. I would like to have everyones money before i actually pay for the sheet myself. I live in Hillsboro but am willing to meet to pick up cash or drop off your kydex anywhere in the portland/hillsboro/clackamas area(my normal stomping grounds).
Also, if anyone knows of retail plastic suppliers that actually supply kydex in smaller quantities please let me know.
.060" is a little thin for my taste (tbtravis ebay purchase). I prefer .080" for holsters, magpouch and larger knife sheathes. I have been using Knifekits.com at about $5-6 a SF (plus shipping) and I get a variety of colors. If your going to order a color like O.D. green, I will be in for 5 SF.
I'm not familiar enough with the various grades of Kydex, but McMaster Carr (my favorite source for just about everything) sells Kydex T in assorted sheet sizes and thicknesses.

Is this the same material? There are multiple grades of Kydex, and I haven't explored the differences enough to know.
