Default Small group order on primers from Cabelas

Not sure if this qualifies for a "group buy" so if not then moderators please move to the appropriate subforum.

Cabelas is showing a 1-2 week backorder on primers. I'm wanting to order a couple thousand small pistol primers but am not too keen on the $20 hazmat fee. I thought maybe 3 or 4 of us that live within driving distance could go in on an order and split the hazmat fee/shipping cost.

I would place the order and when they eventually come in I'd meet up with you (On the I-5/I-205 corridors from Portland to Salem is my area) to give you the primers. You could just pay for your share when we meet up.

I'm not wanting to finance a whole bunch of money though while we wait for them to come in so I'd want people to keep it at like 1k-2k primers each. Or if you pay before they come in I guess you could get more. I can provide references on past gun forum dealings I've had if you'd like.

Of course Cabelas backorder estimate could be a load of BS and it'd take 3 months before they come in. I sent an email to them this morning to see if it's actually a 2 week wait but haven't gotten a response yet.

    Thanks,

    Cory

I waited 6 months before getting some .380 that was estimated to ship in 1 week.

Hmmm...that's kinda what I was fearing. I did check and they said they don't charge a credit card until the order actually ships so I'd still like to get in an order and then just not expect to get them in for a while.

I'm in for some if they CCI or Winchester.

In order of priority (willing to buy all if this fits in your plan):
    - 1K small pistol
    - 1K small rifle (CCI 41 preferred but not necessary)
    - 1K large rifle (CCI 34 preferred but not necessary)

    (none are magnum)

Well that's one person....2 more and I'll make the order.

I was looking to get Winchester myself and I think it'd be better if the primers were all the same Manufacturer so when they come off of backorder there aren't multiple shipments

    Default Primer buy

You might want to check out Graf & Sons. I waited for 5 months on an order from Cabelas that was supposed to be 2 weeks. Cancelled it and ordered from Grafs for 20% less and got them in less than a month.

FWIW. I posted here a long time ago that I ordered a bunch of primers from Cabelas last year. I ordered them all at once to save shipping and hazmat.

The primers "dribbled" in here in different batches, and each time I got a shipping and hazmat fee.

Guys on here said Cabelas doesn't do that, that I should ask and they would refund the additional hazmat at least. No way. They told me they shipped as they received, and had to pay hazmat each time and so did I.

Just sayin' it happened to me...

BEFORE i ordered i called and clarified with someone on the phone as to the price i was looking at for my order on-line and asked about the order coming in more than one shipment, i was told " the price that it shows on the order is the total , even if it ships in more than one shipment " i have not been charged any extra ,hhmmm......it did not all come in one shipment

MidSouth has primers. Large rifle, 30 carbine, and small rifle. Someone can do a group buy there if they wish

Well I got my primers from Jack with Dan Dee Sales.....great guy and was able to meet him just off I-205 on my way home from work. The price was about the same as they sell at Bi-Mart.

If you need primers and are between Sweet Home and Portland I'd recommend you send the guy a PM.
