If you do want to sell a firearm in Oregon to a stranger, and you want to do the right thing by finding out if they are eligible to own a firearm; here's what you need to do:

    Have the buyer with you.
Be sure the buyer has government issued ID with a picture.

Call the Oregon state police firearms unit at 1 800 432 5059.
Read off the information on the government ID.
Provide the buyer's date of birth, race, sex and address.
Pay a $10 fee, Visa or Master Card accepted. : )

    Waste of $10.

Funny how wikipedia has quickly updated their page on Jeff Rossen: [ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeff_Rossen]

"In 2012, Rossen was named National Investigative Correspondent. He will lead a new investigative unit titled "Rossen Reports." According to an NBC News press release, Rossen's investigations will appear on all platforms, including TODAY, NBC Nightly News, and Dateline.[citation needed]. Rossen will provide information that isn't substantiated and tends to lean towards violating constitutional rights. He is supported and funded by Michael Bloomberg and writes articles aimed at supporting the anti-gun community in collaboration with the Brady Campaign. His articles provide no factual data, and consists mainly of unsubstantiated quotes from the coffers of the Brady Campaign."

and a link to the revisions page: Revision history of Jeff Rossen - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

specifically: Jeff Rossen - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I wonder how long before THEY notice that the cat is out of the bag?

    ------------------

So let me get this straight; Jeff Rossen, a resident of New York, arranged (with the help of his crew) to purchase guns listed online in Arizona, and set up a shill couple to buy these guns while the private sale was filmed without consent by a MSNBC/Rossen Reports film crew for a story on how guns can be purchased legally. Sounds to me like either the BATFE was in on the deal, or Rossen and his team need to have a wonderful legal experience back in Arizona.

This passes for journalism? This is a slanted op-ed piece masquerading as real news.

Quick question, how do you store that picture of the DL, assuming its in a digital format?

When I sell there is a signed bill of sale and a copy of photo ID made. These papers are kept in fire safe and/or safe deposit box at bank like any other important paper. If I'm going to trust the buyer to not be a wacko/criminal he's going to trust me to keep his info safe.

I wonder how many online ads he had to go through before he found eight people that didn't care? Particularly with the .50 cal. Bet that isn't included in the report.

I think we need more laws that criminals won't follow.

Cheap journalism, but the idiot who sold despite the buyers clear comment on failing a background check shouldn't be selling guns. The guy who said it was just about the money and the one who turned up with his kid also showed questionable judgement, but the first guy was actually breaking the law, as he had reason to suspect the buyer was prohibited.

I require not seeing anything that would lead me to believe you're not legally able to purchase the gun from me. It's not my responsibility to make sure people are making accurate-looking false documents.

Don't show up with an out of state license plate on your car... 'cause then I gotta ask.
