[QUOTE=cyclesarge;331982]Or you could have one of these, looked and loaded, hidden on the seat right next to you. With a CPL, of course.

OK I went over this with an ex-cop/gun store owner.
He claimed the CCW had to be "on your person"

I claimed it just had to be "out of reach of other persons" but not necessarily "on your person"

It does kinda say the gun has to be "on your person" (i)

    ???

    RCW 9.41.050
    Carrying firearms.
(2)(a) A person shall not carry or place a loaded pistol in any vehicle unless the person has a license to carry a concealed pistol and: (i) The pistol is on the licensee's person, (ii) the licensee is within the vehicle at all times that the pistol is there, or (iii) the licensee is away from the vehicle and the pistol is locked within the vehicle and concealed from view from outside the vehicle.
So can you drive while that thing is concealed?

The LEO is wrong which is why you never ask a cop for legal advice.

In your quote of the law it does NOT say "and". I uses a comma between i and ii then comma along with "or" between ii and iii.

So as long as you meet ONE of those requirements it is legal, you dont have to meet all as that would be impossible.

OK OK that's why it says "place" in the beginning.
shall not carry or place a loaded pistol
And I read it the same way you did.

BUT...but that shows you how they read this and will use it against you if possible,or to bubblegum with you (I give up on finding better words, they change it to bubblegum anyway)

No, the tube is a receiver extension. It has a spring and a buffer in it and the bolt carrier slides back into it when it cycles. There are much shorter tubes you can get though if you think a regular sized one is ugly. There is also a Kel-Tec gun, the PLR-16, that is a 5.56 pistol that is not based on the AR-15 and has no tube. It is made quite a bit cheaper, but hey, for a car gun that's a plus.

Yes that is very appropriate for Yakima

No you can not get a "kit" that is where the buffer and spring go. Without it there is no way to get your bolt to go back forward. This has NOTHING to do with if it is a DI or Piston gun those are the systems that make the bolt go back, not forward.

They are a couple of companies that make AR uppers that have the return spring over the barrel.

Here is an example of the OA93 (Olympic Arms) pistol that is 16" OAL. They share very few parts in common with standard AR parts.

I use to have pics of the internals hosted but apparently I dont......

You could check one of these out.
Rock River Arms: NEW! RRA PDS Pistol

My receiver extension is definitely longer than it NEEDS to be, I had the full sized (carbine) buffer on hand when I went with this tube. The length doesn't bother me since I can rest my check on it when firing.

I am sure you can order one with a pistol barrel or have a gunsmith make this into one for you.

Yeah I stopped in there. This was a problem for them.Really the problem is the magazines and the fact they won't just use glock 10mm mags.
Maybe they fixed this, but a year and a half ago nobody could/would make the mags

They give you 1 mag and I bet it's impossible to get any more. Wasn't real impressed when I left their factory in Yelm

    But thanks for the info.

They are making a new mag now.

They use to use modified Uzi mags that are hard to find and expensive when you do.

FWIW I have a Glock lower in 9mm with an integral silencer and love it.

I just picked up a .45 upper off another board for a great deal. It comes with one of the new mags. I am planning on doing a Grease Gun lower to feed it. I will put up a review of it when I get to play with it.

has published a letter saying that it does NOT have to be on your person as long as it's under your "control" I have a copy of the letter someplace. I wonder if I can ever find it!! I used to keep a copy in the car but I don't think it's there anymore.

Well like I've said, that's how I have always heard it to be.

In fact a buddy got pulled over and the stater ask where his gun was.
He ask what made him think there was a gun?
He saw the CCL in his wallet. My friend just said it's in here, safe
The cop was just asking,no big deal at all
