+2 for the OFA. My wife & I just went through Basic Handgun 1. I'm already licensed and did the course as a prerequisite to doing other OFA classes. My wife an admitted gun noob, had a great time, learned lots. We were both very impressed.
This is the kind of class that all CC classes should be modeled from. I understand the point of view that "we don't need no stinkin' license, it's our right". BUT for the 80% who are noobs & others, this kind of class is invaluable. To not just hand them a license, but first have them think about the ramifications of deadly force, and talk about the situational awareness to recognize and possibly keep an altercation from escalating to a deadly force senario. Not to mention giving them some actual range time. Think about being a bystander to a lethal force incident and the CC noob is getting "on-the-job" training as he is emptying his mag in an adrenaline rush...
Anyway, great class that was well worth the dinero, great instructors (Dan, Rick, Wayne, ), see ya'll again soon.

I live in Clackamas County and work in Washington county.. Can I apply in either county and if so, does anyone know if one is better to work with than the other?

All applications for Concealed Handgun Licenses are initiated through the county Sheriff’s office in your county of residence. Concealed Handgun License applicant fingerprint cards are processed and established in the Computerized Criminal History records of Oregon's Criminal Offender Information system to assist the counties in their background investigation process.

I emailed the Clackamas County Sheriffs Office and asked if they accepted online safety courses for the CHL education requirement.

The response: "Yes as long as they are by NRA instructors or law enforcement."

Sent an email off to Clackamas County to see if they will except the MD online training... I will update as soon as a response is received.

Nope, you have to get your permit in the county you live in.
