    So, in most of these pictures the shooter is being backed up by someone holding a "thingy" near his shoulder. What is that "thingy" and what's it for?

    That thingy is a competition shot timer. It times from when the RO presses the button to when the last shot is fired.

    Thanks for the comments guys. I'm still learning but I appreciate the tips.

    I think I was having a hard time holding it up with my chicken arms but I blame my trainer Joey for letting me hold the mag
