removing attachments

I'm sorry to have to bother, but I have closed several posts and cannot get rid of the attachments. When I try to hi-lite one to delete it brings up the image. When I try to delete selected it tells me I don't have anything selected. When I click on the CP it tells me I have nothing there. Several people have given me advice but I still have the pics taking up space.

Thanx for the help, maybe sooner or later it will sink in.
