I thought it may be nice to set up a thread for all major locations. Portland, Gresham, Albany, Corvallis, Lebanon etc.... You get the point. I just thought maybe if we started threads for each area, that way people in that area could get to know each other, maybe meet up and go shooting or whatever. just an idea. I dont wanna start threads if people think its a stupid idea.

Where Would we put this? in the General Fire arm Section?

Counties sounds like a better cut than individual cities.

Unless you grouped cities within 15-20 miles apart.

(Corvallis/Albany/Lebanon)
(Eugene/Springfield)
(Cottage Grove/Creswell/Drain/Yoncalla)

Etc. Good thought.

Yes thats what I was talking about. Group them together.

Main Group:
  • Oregon
    • NW Oregon (Salem North to PDX West to Astoria)
    • Mid Valley (South Salem to Cottage Grove/Drain then to coast including Newport Coos Bay)
    • SW Oregon (Medford, Roseburg, Kalamath, etc)
    • Central (Bend, Sister, Prineville, The Dalles)
    • Eastern ( Baker, Pendleton, Frenchglen, Burns)
  • Washington:
    • South West (Vancouver, etc.)
    • Seattle & Surrounding (Seattle, Marysville, Woodinville, Aurora etc...)
    • North West (Upper.. Near canada border>..)
    • Central (Unknown of towns)
    • Eastern (Spokane, Tri-cities area etc.)

Within each area a thread of specific groupings of cities?

Is this the layout your referring to OP?

Just my $.02

I'm not sure about the areas, but that looks pretty close.
I would include Idaho and Alaska also as general groups also.

glockguy, is this what you were looking for?

Yea, I guess that will work. Just make sure the places are some what close to each other. Like for instance. I dont think people from like Portland area would want to drive here to Albany for a get together to shoot. So Maybe a more Confined area. So One area would be for example: Albany, Lebanon, Sweet home, Corvallis. Someone Mentioned doing counties. So if that were the case instead of those cities it would be: Linn/Benton .

I was just trying to think of a way to categorize certian places that are near close to each other. Kinda of like a grid

I was trying to do a layout as glockguy was describing.

I mean there's always tweaking. I'm here simply for your amusement.

Zones can be off too.

I dont think there are many draw backs, I just dont know how to get it all in order. I think it was you coctailer that said if they were just threads they would fall off the board. How can we keep each location at the top of the page permanently? and as a new location opens up a moderator (im assuming thats who can make those kinda of changes) can add it?

If it were all kept in one section it wouldn't take up much space.

Drawbacks? More threads?
