They really beat those rifles hard. The heavier barrel isn't gonna cost more to make. So I guess the only possible issue would be the extra weight. No soldier will ever dump through rounds like they show in the test. It got too hot for them to touch on a test fixture let alone use in combat. However, they will have to carry the gun around everywhere they go. Weight does matter. Why did they only mention the M4? The M16 has a barrel that has a reduced profile under the handguards as well. The gas tube finaly melted on the second test. Are they gonna say they need a heavier gas tube next?
