    Default Chamber Flags / Opinions

What is your opinion on chamber flags? Is there a particular brand you prefer? It seems like $7 + shipping for a 6 pack of Tapco Chamber Flags is too much for what should be a cheap plastic item. Are they really that durable, or am I just paying for the brand?

I've never had to use chamber flags because most of my guns will hold open, and my range does not require the use of flags, only open actions (during transport and cease-fire). I'm concerned the use of chamber flags increases the probability of unwanted debris in the chamber..

Any thoughts or opinions are appreciated, thanks in advance.

I buy them at Tri-County for $1 each, to me a flag is a flag........ If you want some, I'll get you some.

Be aware that chamber flags do come in different diameters. Not every flag fits the under 30 caliber chamber sizes.

I don't mind using them. Got mine at Tri County as well. I did get one free with my Bushmaster that's specially made for ARs. It's a square flag that rides on top of the pull handle preventing the bolt from closing.

I call buffalo chips on that one...
A proper fully intact chamber flag will not go into an occupied chamber.
If it will prove it to me.

I think bmgm37 meant hot chamber, referring to temperature, not hot as being loaded.

Yes I did mean a hot empty chamber....it was at the Albany MG shoot on my M16.
