Default Redfield Widefield that does not maintain focus through power range....advice?

I have a Redfield Widefield 3-9 vintage scope that came on an older BAR that I bought. It is in good focus at 3 power, but when I zoom up to 9 power, the focus gets worse and worse.

Am I missing something? I don't recall this ever happening with other scopes that I have owned.

Thanks in advance for any help.

This used to be one of the discerning factors between "Cheapies" and "High End" scopes. Performing this test was one of the methods of sorting them our, regardless of price. With improved manufacturing techniques and "glass" quality, the "Cheapies" are even passing this test. I would write it off the the "Vintage" part of your description. If it were mine, I'd first examine it for any loose pieces or damage and if none just pick a power and focus for it.
