Where is the cheapest place to purchase 223 / 5.56 ammo? I'm local to vancouver / portland, but am impartial whether I buy them locally or online.

Gun shows are one local source. Check out the "Great Deals" section under Classifieds on this website. Slickguns.com is another good source. I don't know of any local shops w/great prices, but Bi-Mart has it on sale occasionally for around $6/box.

The cheapest place I've seen around town is Willamette Valley Arms in Hillsboro - I think it's like $5.50 for 20 and something like $240 for a 1000. I didn't buy any last time I was in there, but I will the next time I'm in the neighborhood.
