    Default Old 4831

I have about 10 pounds of old 4831 from WWII. It was fine in 1988, the last time I reloaded with it.

It's been dry, dark and cool. I suspect it is still good. I wonder!

It will be fine! I also have some of the old pull down 4831 that was actually packed in one pound early celeophane bags. I contacted Hodgdon about the lot date and they said it was packed in the mid 50's and it was pulled from WW1 surplus 30-06.

I still shoot many 1/2 moa groups with powder that is nearly 100 years old!

Look for deterioration in the form of fine brown powder: then it's bad.
Used to buy it in the 32lb cloth bags for $.59/lb.....hummmm

Nope! It's no doubt bad, and terribly dangerous,....
PM me your address and I will be by to pick it up and dispose of it properly for you!
I won't charge you a HAZMAT disposal fee since you are a member here at NWFA,...

Powder this old should only be used in rifles of similar age. Old Mauser's and 03 Springfields are just perfect for this.

Yeah it's probably bad. Don't take any chances. Just give it to me, I'll take care of it.
