I would imagine the highest quantity of my reloading would be for paper targets, so no reason to waste powder on big loads.

According to the hodgdon reloading page (http://data.hodgdon.com/cartridge_load.asp) the same bullet and powder varies from 5 grains to 4.8 grains for the starting loads.

So there is overlap in the powder amount between the respective rounds' min/max loads.
At any rate, being creative is probably not appropriate when learning to reload

I hope you realize you need a scale. It is a necessity. You can use the scoops but they don't necessarily hold what Lee states. Same with the Auto Disks. Commonly I have to use one or two steps larger than Lee claims to get the amount of powder correct. You don't load without a scale, at least not safely.

Just spotted this on the classifieds. I'd suggest it as a good way to get started. sell or trade the dies for what you need. No interest in it for me , just fyi.

I think this kit is hard to beat. I just need dies and consumable materials:

Along with that I was thinking of the "Deluxe" 4 die set, where there's a dedicated crimp die.

I run a Lee handpress. It is all I have at the moment, and it is easy to use, and a space saver. I had a lead on a turret, but follow up has been weak on both our parts. It works great for handgun ammo, and works well enough for rifle too (takes a little more effort, but not a great deal more). I work in batches. I will resize a bunch, prime a bunch, flare the lot, store them, and then load as time allows (usually 50-100 rounds at a time).
I use a powder funnel to fill my cases, and just ignore the powder through aspect of my flare die. Great with a progressive, about useless in single stage.
